Frequently Asked Questions // FAQS
As a dog owner myself who has left my own precious paws with others while I was either commited to a long day at work, away for a weekend, on holiday, or just in need of a break to get on with things, I understand the process of worry that the person you leave your dog with will look after and care for him or her just as you do yourself. To help you decide whether I am the right person to look after your dog I have tried to set out some of those questions I had myself and answer those concerns before you consider Muddy Mutts of Harrogate will be the chosen one!
01
Will my dog be safe without me to keep my eye on him // her?

Yes so far as I can control all activities and interactions with other dogs and so far as I can act on your specific instructions such as whether s/he can go off lead, whether s/he doesn't like a certain other doggy behaviour, etc. A questionnaire will need to be completed by you as part of the service agreement to help me guauge the best care and walking buddies for your dog.
02
How many dogs do you walk at once?

My professional dog walker and pet care insurance covers me for up to 6 dogs per walking group but Muddy Mutts of Harrogate commits to a maximum of just 4 client dogs at any given time. This is just enough for a group to have fun and for me to keep close control of to ensure sensible and safe behaviour in public.
03
Do you give treats if so how many?
I will follow your strict instructions regarding treats and food. I am happy to take a sample of your own treat type out on walks (if any at all) as I understand that we all have different rules for our dogs which I will respect and of course not all dogs are food motivated !
04
How will you know what commands my dog has been taught?

The Questionnaire will cover this as I will need to know each dog's understanding of his / her basic commands.
05
Are you insured?

My business is insured for third party public liability for personal injury and property as well as Care Custody & Control cover. However, as a dog owner I take seriously my own obligations to a duty of care and ensure that I have insurance for my own dog which includes third party liability - should she ever bite anyone or cause damage to property or even cause an accident due to circumstances out of my control such as spooking and pulling away from my control, I know I am covered for potential claims against me. You should check your own insurance too.
